Woman on Boards

Equipping Women for Executive Leadership

In 2019, Limit Breakers Global Foundation proudly launched one of its flagship leadership development initiatives — the Women on Boards Programme — a bold and strategic intervention to increase women’s participation and influence at the highest levels of decision-making.

Rooted in the belief that diverse leadership leads to better outcomes, this programme was designed to equip women with the skills, confidence, and networks needed to serve effectively on boards — whether in corporate, public sector, or nonprofit governance.

A Strategic Partnership for Impact

To bring this vision to life, Limit Breakers partnered with BoardConnect, a leading organization in governance education and boardroom excellence. Together, we developed a 13-week, reality-based governance training programme tailored to the needs of aspiring and emerging women board leaders.

This partnership ensured the programme was not just theoretical, but grounded in the real-world dynamics of boardrooms, executive decision-making, and institutional leadership.

What the Programme Covered

The Women on Boards programme offered a high-quality, intensive learning experience focused on both technical knowledge and leadership development. Participants explored core governance themes such as:

  • Revenue Streams & Financial Oversight
  • Building Strategic Business Partnerships
  • Personal Branding & Leadership Development
  • Governance Essentials & Fiduciary Duties
  • Boardroom Etiquette & Ethics

Each session was led by industry experts, board chairs, and seasoned executives, offering not only training but also mentorship, coaching, and practical insights drawn from lived boardroom experience.

Empowering Women for Real Influence

The programme was specifically crafted for:

  • Women ready to serve or already serving in board or advisory roles.
  • Professionals seeking to transition into executive leadership or expand their strategic influence.
  • Women leaders committed to mentoring and uplifting others, creating a ripple effect of empowered leadership in their communities and industries.

By the end of the 13 weeks, participants left with:

  • A deep understanding of governance structures and board responsibilities.
  • Enhanced leadership presence and executive communication skills.
  • A stronger professional network of like-minded women changemakers.
  • The confidence to take up space in boardrooms and executive forums.

A Legacy of Leadership

Since its inception, Women on Boards has continued to grow — inspiring a generation of women leaders to claim their seat at the table and mentor others to do the same. Many alumnae of the programme have gone on to secure influential roles, serve on key boards, and drive change in both corporate and community spaces.

At Limit Breakers, we remain committed to building the pipeline of women board leaders, amplifying women’s voices where it matters most, and breaking barriers to inclusion at every level of leadership.

Extra themes around board member training:

  • Equipping women to hold key positions on boards.
  • Stratefic focus on national and continental organisations
  • Leverage off Limit Breakers network for opportunities
  • Mentoring & Coaching
  • Global exposure.
