Rising Together: Limit Breakers’ Relief Efforts After the KZN Floods of 2022
In April 2022, the province of KwaZulu-Natal was struck by one of the most devastating natural disasters in recent South African history. Over the weekend of 10 April, relentless rains fell across the province, recording the heaviest downpour in over 60 years. In just a few days, entire communities were left reeling — homes and businesses destroyed, power outages widespread, and over 400 lives tragically lost, with more than 50 people still unaccounted for.
In the face of such overwhelming devastation, Limit Breakers Global Foundation rose in solidarity with the affected communities.A Lifeline in Crisis: The KZN Relief Project
Mobilizing our team, volunteers, and networks, we launched the KZN Relief Project, an emergency response initiative aimed at bringing urgent humanitarian aid to the hardest-hit areas. Between April and May 2022, our team supported between 400 and 1,000 individuals, many of whom had lost everything overnight.

Our focus was not just on immediate relief, but on dignity, care, and consistency.
We provided:
- Nutritious food parcels
- Clean drinking water
- Sleepwear and underwear
- Temporary beds and bedding
- Sanitary pads and hygiene kits
- Blankets and towels
- Baby toys, nappies, and formula
- Essential sanitation supplies

Reaching the Heart of the Community
Our relief efforts extended across several severely affected communities, including:
- Inanda
- Ntuzuma
- KwaMashu
- Durban Central
- Nyavu and surrounding rural areas
With the support of 5–10 community halls in each area acting as distribution points, our mission was to ensure that aid was not a once-off drop, but rather a consistent and reliable lifeline for families during a time of chaos and uncertainty.

Standing Strong in the Storm
What we witnessed was both heartbreaking and deeply inspiring — stories of families displaced, children without basic needs, and elderly people seeking shelter and warmth. But we also saw communities coming together, neighbours helping neighbours, and local leaders working tirelessly to restore hope.
At Limit Breakers, we believe in more than just responding to disasters — we believe in restoring dignity, creating safety, and planting seeds for long-term recovery.
Moving Forward
While the immediate emergency has passed, the long road to rebuilding continues. Our experience in KZN reaffirmed our commitment to grassroots-driven, women-led humanitarian interventions that prioritize compassion, cultural awareness, and sustainability.
We remain grateful to every donor, partner, and volunteer who stood beside us during this time.
Together, we rose. Together, we rebuild.
