Empowering Women in Tech: Reflections on Our Women in ICT Social Entrepreneurs Program
At Limit Breakers Global Foundation, our mission is to open doors of opportunity for women across all walks of life — especially those from rural and township communities. In partnership with SITA (State Information Technology Agency), we proudly hosted a transformative two-day networking and engagement event on October 30–31, 2023, in Pretoria as part of our Women in ICT Social Entrepreneurs Programme.

This physical gathering marked a powerful milestone in a journey that began in September 2023, when women passionate about technology and social impact joined the programme. Over the weeks leading up to the event, participants engaged in dynamic virtual sessions, connected with their programme coaches, and laid the foundation for building impactful tech-driven social enterprises.
The Pretoria event brought this all to life.
A Celebration of Connection, Learning, and Purpose
Over the two days, participants had the opportunity to:
- Network with fellow changemakers and build lasting professional relationships.
- Gain industry insights from expert speakers and seasoned social entrepreneurs in the ICT space.
- Strengthen their entrepreneurial mindset through interactive discussions and group activities.
- Connect face-to-face with their mentors, many for the first time, deepening the relationships cultivated during the virtual phase of the programme.

The energy in the room was electric. Women from diverse backgrounds came together, unified by a shared goal — to harness the power of technology for social transformation in their communities.
Why This Matters
For women in rural and township areas, access to ICT resources, mentorship, and entrepreneurial training is often limited. This programme was intentionally designed to bridge that gap, creating a platform for women to thrive, innovate, and lead with confidence in the digital economy.
By investing in these women, we are investing in sustainable, community-led solutions to some of South Africa’s most pressing challenges — from education and healthcare to job creation and access to information.
What’s Next?
This event was not the end — it was a launchpad. The women who attended are now equipped with new tools, ideas, and networks to take their ventures forward. At Limit Breakers, we will continue to support them through follow-up programming, mentorship, and visibility opportunities.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to SITA for their partnership and belief in the vision, and to every woman who participated with passion, commitment, and boldness.
Here’s to a future where women lead the tech revolution — not just in urban centers, but in every corner of our country.
